Develop highly sought-after skills in marketing and communication and kickstart your marketing career with a nationally recognised qualification.
Learn the fundamentals of marketing communication concepts and practices in business and develop in-demand skills that are highly sought after by employers. You will learn how to coordinate marketing activities, analyse consumer behaviour, carry out market research, create digital content, present ideas and research, develop social media strategies and more. You will also improve your overall skills in writing and critical thinking.
This online course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to assist you to find employment in marketing and communications, upskill, or seek a career change. You will enjoy the flexibility of studying at your own pace.
The course duration is up to 18 months. As a guide for self-paced learning, a minimum of 10 hours per week is recommended to complete the course in this timeframe. The actual completion time will depend on your level of skill and knowledge.
If something changes in your life and you cannot continue your study as planned, you can apply for extensions for up to 6 months (3 months per extension).
This course is delivered fully online. You can access the learning platform on a desktop, tablet or mobile, and fit study around your busy life.
Subjects
This course contains 13 online modules covering 12 units of competency (6 core units and 6 elective units), plus an introductory module. Once enrolled, you can access the online platform and start with the first module. Upon completing a module, the next module becomes available.

Eligibility
There are no prerequisite academic requirements for this course. However, students must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or resident
Computer skills requirements: You will need to have intermediate computer skills, including the ability to:
- Create, save and edit Microsoft Office documents
- Access and search the internet
- Download and save documents from websites
- Upload documents through websites
- Create videos
IT requirements:
- Desktop or laptop: Latest version of Chrome or Safari, Microsoft Office (2010 or higher), Adobe PDF Reader
- Mobile or tablet: Latest version of Chrome or Safari, latest version of Android or iOS (note: students using a mobile or tablet will need to upload documents from a laptop or desktop or have a Dropbox account)
Device requirements:
- To complete the Analyse Big Data unit (BSBXBD403), you'll need access to a Windows computer to use Power BI Desktop
- If you're using a Mac or iPad, please borrow a Windows device from a friend, family member, or workplace to complete this part of the course
Curriculum
Your learning materials are accessed through the online learning portal and include:
- Learning activities
- Rich media, including video resources and web links
Your course will be assessed online through the learning management platform. You will be assigned a specialist assessor for each module who will provide support while you complete your assessments. Assessments are carried out using a variety of tasks, including:
- Online quiz
- Short answer questions
- Projects
- Case studies
- Video role plays
Some assessments require role plays to demonstrate communication and problem-solving skills. These are recorded using video on your device and uploaded to the online platform for review.
Additional Information
Online modules are broken down into topics and subtopics specific to the module.
Each module contains a range of learning styles, including written text, diagrams, instructional videos and formative activities.
Trainer support is available through the course messaging system, with one-on-one video calls available if needed.
A Monthly Course Spotlight video is provided, and students can request topics for future Spotlights.
At the end of each module, skill and knowledge are evaluated through summative assessments before the next module is released.
