Course Information

If you’ve been working as a Disability Support Worker, Support Worker, NDIS Support Worker, Personal Care Worker or Community Support Worker, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) could allow you to turn your existing workplace experience into a CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) — without returning to the classroom if you meet course requirements.

This course is for currently working support workers who wants to get qualified with their experience. No study needed. No job seekers. Turn Your Experience into a Nationally Recognised Qualification and Invest in your future. Get recognised for the work you’re already doing.

You’ve already invested years caring for people with disability. Now it’s time to invest in yourself. No exams. No unnecessary study. Just recognition for the skills you’ve already developed.

Duration of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process may be approximately 8 weeks to 6 months. It is largely dependent on the student’s ability to respond to the assessment kit provided.

Traxion Training specialises in delivering qualifications through online Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), designed for experienced professionals who are currently employed in their respective industries. As part of the RPL process, students begin by completing a self-reflection questionnaire to identify their existing skills and knowledge, determining whether they are eligible for RPL or if additional training is needed. This tailored and flexible online approach optimises time and focuses on areas that may require further development.

Experienced professionals currently employed in the community services, disabilities, and/or healthcare industry who wish to have their skills and knowledge formally recognised through an RPL pathway.

This qualification may suit experienced workers such as:

  • Disability Support Worker
  • NDIS Support Worker
  • Community Support Worker
  • Personal Care Worker
  • Home Care Worker
  • Residential Support Worker
  • Lifestyle Support Worker
  • Support Coordinator (entry level)
  • Behaviour Support Assistant
  • Accommodation Support Worker

If you’ve already been doing the work, there’s a good chance you already have many of the skills required.

Why Invest in a Qualification?

Every day you continue working without a nationally recognised qualification, you may be limiting your future opportunities. A qualification doesn’t just help you today. It becomes something you carry with you for the rest of your career.

Whether you move interstate, change employers or apply for new opportunities, your qualification is recognised throughout Australia and demonstrates that your skills have been assessed against national industry standards.

Think of it as investing in an asset that continues creating opportunities for years to come.

Professional Recognition

This is a nationally approved vocational course that is recognised throughout Australia

Eligibility

  • Traxion Training will outline the RPL process clearly at course commencement and gather evidence from the student to demonstrate their capacity to manage the assessment requirements. If the student is not able to meet these requirements, then alternatives will be sought.
  • Technology skills – basic level computer skills and access to a computer will be required.
  • Approximately 6 months of experience in the Community Services, or/and disabilities and healthcare industry.
  • Completed a total of at least 120 hours of work in a specific range of skills related to the community services or/and healthcare services industry as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is all about the skills and knowledge collected through work and life experiences and transferring them to current training course requirements. Credit transfer also recognises previous formal learning (e.g. other VET qualifications), using copies of qualifications, records of results, statements of attainment, or authenticated VET transcripts downloaded from the USI platform.

Successful RPL outcomes can significantly shorten training and learning duration, ensuring a more efficient path to achieving qualifications.

Why Experienced Disability Support Workers Choose RPL

Instead of spending 12–24 months studying something you already know. Recognition of Prior Learning allows qualified assessors to evaluate the skills you’ve already demonstrated in the workplace.

At Traxion Training, our RPL process includes:

  • Workplace evidence review
  • Professional competency conversations
  • Employer verification
  • Multiple assessment methods
  • Dedicated Student Support Officer
  • Qualified Assessor from beginning to end

This means your qualification isn’t simply issued. It’s earned through verified workplace competence. When choosing an RPL provider, trust matters. Traxion Training has helped more than 20,000 professionals achieve nationally recognised qualifications.

Work Placement

This qualification requires students to have completed a minimum of 120 hours of vocational placement. Traxion Training expects students to have already completed these hours, as Traxion only offers an assessment-only based assessment method and does not offer any training and delivery for this qualification.

CHCCCS040 requires students to have performed the activities outlined in the performance criteria of this unit during a period of at least 120 hours of work in at least one aged care, home and community, disability or community service organisation.

If a student does not meet the vocational placement hours requirement in the specified units of competency, Traxion will not be able to issue a Statement of Attainment for the specified unit of competency or a qualification.

Curriculum

The RPL Kit normally consists of the following sections:

  • Self-Assessment Questionnaire
  • List of Evidence Documents & Workplace Portfolio
  • One on One Competency Questioning Interview with a qualified assessor
  • Observation recording sheets
  • Third Party (current workplace supervisor/representative) Verification

All courses can be completed using an assessment only pathway through RPL if the candidate possesses sufficient skills and experience as determined by the assessor.
