What you'll learn

All aspects of the industry are covered to prepare you for a successful career including:

  • Care, preparation and display of floristry stock
  • Creation of designs using a range of classic and contemporary techniques and mediums
  • Floral and flower art
  • Botanical designs
  • Working to floral design briefs
  • Bridal and wedding flowers and bouquets
  • Floristry products, selling and industry technology

You also have the opportunity to participate in floristry and merchandising competitions, specialist flower workshops, industry visits and field trips.

Entry requirements

  • Applicants must be aged 16 or over
  • Applicants are expected to have literacy and numeracy skills at Year 10 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2
  • Apprenticeship and traineeship applicants must be currently employed under a training contract and referred by their employer

Work placement

You will have the opportunity to participate in floristry and merchandising competitions, specialist flower workshops, industry visits and field trips.

As an apprentice florist, you work and learn in the industry.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), formally recognises a person’s existing skills and knowledge towards the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification or statement of attainment.
