Course Information

The ACM20121 Certificate II in Animal Care qualification is the latest nationally accredited qualification that provides you with the skills and knowledge to start in a range of entry-level roles within the animal care industry. This qualification provides the essential skills and knowledge necessary for a variety of roles within animal care facilities and services across Australia and globally.

This qualification focuses on routine animal care activities performed under supervision and within clearly defined guidelines. The classroom learning combines knowledge with hands-on practices. Additionally, it also provides access to optional work placement opportunities to support students in understanding real-world industry environments.

6 Months

We offer a highly flexible mode of course delivery. Students may choose to study on campus in Melbourne or Sydney, or online if they are domestic students or do not require a student visa. International students studying on a student visa are required to attend classes two days per week. Overseas students who are not applying for a student visa may also enrol in our online courses and receive the certificate upon successful completion.

Eligibility

Entry Requirement

Must possess basic computer skills

Must be able to lift and move animals weighing up to 10 Kg independently

Must be 18 years or older

Have sound language, literacy, and numeracy skills* (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)

International Student Requirement

Have sound language, literacy, and numeracy skills* (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)

(From non-English speaking background) are required to provide any one of the following evidence of upper intermediate proficiency in English:

IELTS total band score of at least 6.0

TOEFL ibt total score of at least 64

PTE total score of at least 50

CAE total score of at least 169

We provide both comprehensive learning resources and practical training materials to give students a genuine industry-style learning experience in the classroom. This approach helps students build confidence, develop job-ready skills, and connect theory with real-world practice.

At Greenwood Academy, our assessment process is designed to be accessible and straightforward, combining online convenience with hands-on demonstration:

Theoretical Assessments: Complete all your written coursework and quizzes conveniently online through our interactive Moodle e-learning platform, allowing you to study at a pace and place that suits you.

Practical Assessments: Demonstrate your growing expertise by recording and submitting videos of your practical tasks. This allows our trainers to evaluate your real-world animal handling and technical skills while you work in a comfortable environment.
